What makes you feel most alive?
Jillian Rose Reed: Other than acting, which is my biggest passion in life, being around the people I love makes me feel alive. There is nothing better than sitting with my group of friends and laughing so hard I spit my drink out!
JRR: I do! I work very closely with DoSomething.org, as well as the American Diabetes Association, and I am the celebrity spokesperson of Breaking the Chains! My fans can get involved by going online, figuring out what they’re passionate about, and taking a step! Whether it’s donations, creating an event, or just educating yourself . . . there’s always a way to get involved!
Share some wisdom on an obstacle you’ve faced and overcome.
JRR: One of the biggest obstacles I’ve faced so far is letting go of control. I’m in a business where I have almost zero control over what happens next. I can work my butt off to try to get a job, and still not get it for a million different reasons. That rejection was hard to face at first. I’ve learned to understand that some things are just out of my hands. I’m happier understanding that things will always just work out. They just do!
What advice would you give to the next generation?
JRR: As big of a social media fan as I am, because I do think it’s wonderful, I would tell the next generation to engage. People need other people and relationships . . . face-to-face is so important! Put down the phone once in a while and have a real conversation!
What projects do you have coming up?
JRR: I am starring in and producing a new screenplay called Chained and Bound alongside some really talented actors. We are in the very beginning stages, but it’s awesome to experience what goes on behind the scenes. Other than that, you can watch Awkward on MTV!
